How I’m feeling…
The past 4 years have been a blast. I’ve met new people, done exciting things and formed lifelong friendships.
But sometimes you need to close a chapter to continue the story.
These past few months I took on a significant amount of stress. And the combination of multiple factors have left me lost and disillusioned.
Next month I’ll turn 21. Although a completely arbitrary age that carries very little meaning in the UK it comes with some perspective:
I’m getting older.
What’s the news then?
It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to put content creation on hold. There’ll be no more planed livestreams or YouTube videos.
All planned events are put on indefinite hold until I know what to do with them.
With a combination of diminishing returns and a downturn in my mental health and enthusiasm it seems like the right choice.
What happens next?
Well firstly- the Bored Chaps isn’t “dead”.
What’s going on with the Discord:
Over these coming months the Discord server will be making a transition to be more of a community hub. This will ultimately mean that moderation and admin duties will be shifted around a bit and hopefully it’ll result in the placement of some admins who will be able to ensure that the community continues to grow and thrive.
What’s going on with Wongy:
I’ll continue to be around! No doubt working on various creative projects that I’m passionate about. I’ll still be active on the Discord and social media. I’m always down to take part in people’s streams and play games with people in the Discord. I’d recommend following me on Twitter to know what’s going on with me. I’ll likely be doing something related to filmmaking, game dev, coding or someother stupid nerdy arty bullshit. This doesn’t mean I’ll never livestream or upload videos again- they’ll likely just be in a more experimental nature if I do.
What about #Bored4Pride?:
Effective immediately all 2024 events are cancelled. This doesn’t mean we’ll never revisit the concept again in the future. Nor does it mean the fundraiser is over. You can still make contributions and host your own streams fundraising for it. Regarding future potential B4Ps I can’t say. We may do something for them- we may not. It’s not entirely off the table.
What about INSERT PROJECT HERE:
Plans for a SMP/Modpack will likely be turned into a community SMP/Modpack for our entire Discord. Dungeons and Dragons projects MAY still go ahead but as of right now there’s no concrete plans to move forward with as I’m taking a step back. Podcasts still could happen and aren’t off the table. As for most things we were working on the general assumption can either be that it’ll be converted into a more community orientated project or that it may still happen but is on hold OR that we may not be moving forward with it at all.
Closing remarks:
I’m not leaving permanently- hell I’m not even technically leaving. After what can only be described as a mental episode in which I brought a lot of my life into question I knew I needed to reshuffle priorities while I’m still on the journey to finding myself.
I love you all very much. I look forward to interacting with you all as friends.
